Dot Cotton Corner - Zionism & God's promises to Abraham

A lot of Zionists on Twitter have been telling me recently that if I don't believe God gave Israel to the Jews for all time then I do not believe in God's promises and cannot call myself a Christian.  Actually I don't call myself a Christian but it's worth considering what the New Testament actually says on this issue and an explanation for what happens to God's promise after the birth of Christ is given explicitly by the Apostle Paul.  "The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture [Genesis 22:18] does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ... There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" Galatians 3:16

Christianity officially split from Judeism at the Council of Jerusalem when Paul junked circumcision and the dietary laws as bad box office.  This meeting is recalled in Chapter 15 of the Acts of the Apostles.

The word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.
